What Do You Want Your Tombstone to Say?
When reflecting on the meaning of life, one question I often ask in men's discussion groups is, "What do you want your tombstone to say?" In other words, how do you want to be remembered once you're gone?
For some men, the answer to this question is easy. They want their tombstone to say something like, "Here lies a great husband and father" or "He was a man of God." And while there's nothing wrong with these answers, they don't really get to the heart of what the question is asking.
The question isn't just about what you want people to say about you after you're gone. It's also about how you want to live your life now. It's about what kind of legacy you want to leave behind.
So, I challenge you to think about how you want to be remembered. What do you want your tombstone to say? And more importantly, what are you doing now to make sure that's what it says?
Are you living a life of purpose? Are you making a difference in the lives of others? Are you leaving a legacy that will be remembered long after you're gone?
Think about it. What do you want your tombstone to say? And more importantly, what are you doing now to make sure that's what it says?
Live a life of purpose. Make a difference in the lives of others. Leave a legacy that will be remembered long after you're gone. That's how you'll want to be remembered. So make it count.
