Visit your mom
I was talking to an older woman a couple weeks ago and she remarked that her surgeon son had not been to visit for a couple of months. She ran into him at a social event and spoke a few words but that was all.
As men, we are accused sometimes of not valuing relationships enough. We don’t nurture in the same way that women do and we tend to assume that the relationship is fine unless we hear otherwise.
Those you love need to hear from you. They need to hear your expressions of concern and caring. And you need to make more of a point of expressing your feelings to others. This will reward you as well as them.
Relationships are short-lived at best. We can all do a better job of taking care of them, starting with mom. If your mom is still alive, send her a card, visit her, call her frequently. If your mom has passed on, you might visit her grave and thank her for the love she showed.
