Christmas is for Kids...And Men
For sure, Christmas is going to be different this year. So it is up to you as a man to take the lead in making the Christmas spirit come alive in your home.
I have two ideas:
Involve yourself with kids. Not just your kids but any kids that you encounter. Kneel down to their level and ask them about Christmas. Don’t just ask what they’re getting for Christmas, ask what they think Christmas is about? Or why did Jesus come to earth? Or what’s the most exciting thing about Christmas besides getting presents?
The purpose of this is to get you in touch with a child’s enchantment of Christmas. Maybe this will help re-inspire you to think about Christmas in a different way.
The second suggestion:
Involve yourself in all of the family’s Christmas activities. In fact you should lead them.
Be sure to be involved in the putting up of the tree and the Christmas decorations. Take the lead in initiating the singing of some Christmas carols… even if you can’t sing. Pick out some Christmas movies to watch. Engage the kids in conversation at the dinner table about the true meaning of Christmas.
We all are in need of some spiritual reconnection during this difficult time. You can help with that. Engage yourself with your family and take the lead in making this Christmas a wonderful event.
