Is your marriage blissfully happy?
There is an interesting article in the June 13, 2016, issue of Time magazine about staying married. In addition to all the usual things you probably have heard about how to stay married, it notes that over time married partners learn to really respect and honor each other and become life-long friends.
This, of course, is after the early years of the grind with children and job and distractions. But it points out that we can have bliss in our marriages if we are willing to work at it and stay engaged.
Never before have people had so many options to leave a marriage early. And never has it been more tempting. But history proves that seeking substitute relationships usually ends up with just a different set of problems.
Difficult as it may be, imagine yourself blissfully happy in your marriage. If you are not already experiencing that, make that your goal for this year. Start by showing love and respect unconditionally to your partner and commit to overlooking the hundreds of small defects in their character. Hopefully, they will return the favor.
A good place to start your search might be to investigate some of the many books about getting to know your partner or learning to stay married.
