What
people are saying about Men
in Balance™
Men in
Balance gave our Men’s Ministry direction in the form of
quality Christian programming that appeals to men in ways
that we found most difficult to do when we ran our program
“in-house”. He has breathed new life and into a
men’s Ministry program that was never able to reach it’s
potential, and our Men’s Ministry is now growing for the
first time in years.

When we implemented
Men in Balance in our church, we had 9 men to sign up
initially. All nine completed the course, and all nine
claimed to have been substantially impacted by their
participation. Ages of the men ranged from 28 - 60,
and the interaction between the older and younger men was a
wonder to behold...the younger drawing on the wisdom and
experience of the older, and the older drawing on the
excitement and enthusiasm of the younger. The MIB
curriculum helped us to focus our conversation around issues
relevant to the lives of every man, and at the tend of the
term, long-lasting ties had been developed among all.
I highly recommend MIB, and look forward to forming our next
group.

As
a one of the pastors at Huntersville
UMC
, I will be
attending my first "introductory session" this
coming weekend during one of our church's men's beach retreat.
I'm looking forward to having some of our men exposed to MIB
ministry opportunity which is desperately needed in
today's Christian church. I am thankful that we have lay
leadership in our church who are willing to facilitate
and lead our men through this important ministry.

I
took the Men in Balance course at my church. I learned a
great deal through sharing life experiences with other men.
I gained a unique perspective by listening to how other men
dealt with the same issues I have in my life. I was
impressed with the course and signed my wife and me up for the
couples communication class offered by Men in Balance.
We both really enjoyed the class and used the material to
communicate better in our marriage.

While
I have not attended a particular program, I have been involved
with Jerry since the beginning of his program ministry and
read much of his printed materials. I find his approach
to be unique and effective in its purposes. He takes
difficult subject matter and works it into a workable program
that helps a broad array of families. The problems are
not unique, but the individuals experiencing them are.
Jerry's programs deal with the underlying issues while
respecting the individuality of the persons experiencing them.
Also, his programs work around the socially-stimulated defense
mechanisms of men and work the solutions directly where the
problems lie. Jerry's unique programming and
approach make the difference in the success of the lives of
those he touches.

Jerry,
I
appreciate your efforts and the opportunity to connect with
others in the church. The time I spent in your class
helped me to connect with other church members and see my
personal struggles in relation to others and how they
draw from their faith to gain strength and peace.
Thank
you for your service,
Scott
I
have attended 6-7 Men In Balance sessions in
Cincinnati
Ohio
. The sessions have been an excellent outlet for me to
be open and discuss issues and ideas that I would otherwise
not have a forum to share them in. They are therapeutic,
empowering and are in fact, helping me attain more balance in
my life.

Men
in Balance has been a positive resource for me in how I view
the world and what I might learn from a male’s point of
view. I have participated in sessions and have enjoyed
meaningful dialogue and exploration of ideas with the founder.
This program is greatly needed and I can only hope that we can
get a women’s group started with the same format. The
various programs have helped me to better process my
husband’s viewpoint as well as those of my boss at work.

I attended a marriage
workshop with Men in Balance
and it had a strong
impact on me. In addition to
great teaching
sessions, the facilitators also used
creative methods to get
their point across,
including
humorous role play to make things
fun yet still
educational. Sharing was encouraged
among participants, and
this also gave me some great
insights on how to
better communicate with my spouse.
I think Men in Balance
is a wonderful program,
but
not very well known. It could benefit
many more men and
couples
if it could get its
name out more.

I
have learned a lot both from the other participants and from
the syllabus itself. I like the flexible structure of
the program; carefully framed topics and many opportunities
for comments and questions.

I've
seldom experienced the openness and candor among men that I
felt at MIB sessions. My hair still stands on end just
thinking about it. I can't wait for the next one.

Here
are a few specific things that MIB has done in my life:
1, It has provided me with new Christian Friends.
2. It had provided me more insights on how to communicate with
my wife and family, so I can become a better father and
husband.
3. It has provided me with a better understanding of my own
shortcomings and how to deal with them.
4. It has provided me with a better understanding of some
issues i.e. forgiveness.
5. It provides me with a safe forum where I can discuss issues
that are of concern to me.
Overall, MIB has enhanced my personal spiritual experience and
feeling of well being.

After
attending numerous MIB gatherings and completing one couples
course, I can unequivocally say that Jerry Hancock's efforts
and the efforts of those that participate are creating an
"environment of value."
In today's fast paced, responsibility oriented world it is
easy to live a life where the really important things, almost
imperceptibly, drift down to the bottom of the priority list.
So many people are moving faster and faster but experiencing
less and less genuine fulfillment.
MIB reminds us where fulfillment can be found and gives some
great tips on how to get there. Simply discussing "real
issues" with other men, in an untypical male environment,
has personally helped me to regain my center. For most of us,
I believe that "being grounded" is a perishable
quality. MIB provides a way to stay on track and to realize
that most men have similar thoughts and problems regarding
relationships. Finding an environment to air those thoughts
and problems is a challenge and yet such a forum leads to
better communication and understanding.
MIB is a wonderful environment to enhance your relationships
through better insight and by developing your own relationship
communication skills.

Men in Balance's
spiritual impact on my life has been incredible. It has
positively impacted my relationships with God, co-workers,
family, loved ones and with myself. Jerry Hancock who
leads our Men in Balance is the most passionate guy I have
ever met when it comes to the mission of Men in Balance. I
love that guy and God's gift that he has given to Jerry.

Men
in Balance provides a priceless resource for all men and their
family's. We truly are not in balance and we need that
third party to help us clearly see where we do need help.
We all have our own "blind spots", but we do not
realize it. Men in balance helps us discover those
"blind spots" and provides resources to address
them. I personally have uncovered many "blind
spots" that I did not know I had. The real world
examples from other men coupled with God leading the way has
changed my life. Men in Balance should be attended by all
men no matter where they are in their journey.

The Men in Balance discussion group at
Davidson
United
Methodist
Church
is a
wonderful way for men of different ages and different
backgrounds to get together and discuss a variety of issues in
a non-judgmental, supportive environment. I participated
in a group that met on Sunday mornings over a 2 month period.
The class facilitator, Jerry Hancock, was superb in
stimulating discussion and encouraging all class members to
participate. I came away with some valuable insights and
suggestions for dealing with some of the situations and
relationships that I struggle with.

"For
twenty centuries, the church has struggled to bring men fully
into the life of faith. Men in Balance is an important step to
welcoming men -- as men, and not just as donors and committee
chairmen -- into the church. I recommend this ministry highly
and without reservation."

things all that differently.

Men
in Balance at our church has become a regular part of my
husband’s Sunday worship/fellowship experience. Our
church has lacked a program for the men, offering thought
provoking topics for discussion, and help for men who
want to deepen their relationship with Christ. Families
really benefit when the husband/father becomes a
part of this fellowship . Family life can’t be
anything but better when the church- and in our case the Men
in Balance program at our church- provides such a safe,
thought provoking and spriritual program every week.
We very highly recommend Men In Balance!
